Kelly & PJ | Lake of the Woods Wedding

One of my favorite parts of a wedding day is the speeches, it’s actually a pretty easy moment for me workwise since there are only so many photos you can take of someone talking!  The reason I love the speeches is that I get to learn more about my couples from their friends and families.  I get to hear more of the juicy details of how they met or what they have done in their past that they wish they could leave buried :).  When I met Kelly and PJ I asked how they met and they said through mutual friends.  What I learned at their wedding is that they met at a wedding and through a series of Polaroid photographs taken at the wedding Kelly and PJ gradually got closer and closer together.  By the end of the night they were taking photos together and signing the guest book together like a couple.  Who would have thought that night that years later a lot of those same people would gather this time to celebrate Kelly and PJ’s Lake of the Woods wedding!

David and I had so much fun hanging out with Kelly and PJ in New York for their engagement session, we got to see Grand Central Station and the infamous steps of Sex and the City’s Ms. Carrie Bradshaw!  They were so sweet to suffer through Will’s complete hatred of cabs and the ensuing crying fest that occurred.  They have even instructed us to come back up to NY so they can meet the new baby sometime!  Totally sweet couple, I love them!

I have been looking forward to their wedding and to Kelly’s vision of Southern Luxe!  I think she knocked it out of the park!  With little details like chalkboard painted serving trays for the table numbers, mason jars filled with whiskey tea and the most amazing Southern food I’ve ever had!!  Seriously I had to text David at cocktail hour to tell him how good the food was.  Imagine little shot glasses filled with tomato soup and a grilled cheese wedge perched on top accented with a gold striped flag toothpick.  So cute!!  Classic bottles of coke with striped paper straws and my favorite a hot ham and cheese sandwich on a flaky bread brushed with honey.  My mouth is watering for one of those sandwiches right now.  That was just the cocktail hour food!  The reception food included macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, crabcakes plus biscuits with honey as just a few of the items.  Best food ever!  The clubhouse at Lake of the Woods did a phenomenal job!

This was my first time out to Lake of the Woods and if you are looking for a wedding venue and have access to the club don’t hesitate to book your wedding there!  Gorgeous location on the water and a beautiful reception room.  The coordinator Joey is fabulous and I know you will have an amazing wedding there!  I hope to be back out there more especially if they have those delicious ham and cheese sandwiches!

Kelly and PJ you guys know I love you to pieces and I’m so happy for you two!  I hope your wedding was everything you imagined and I hope these photos capture the day perfectly for you.  I wish you a lifetime of happiness and lots of laughter in your marriage!
