Heather & Steve | Marine Corp Museum Chapel Wedding

I have a special place in my heart for small intimate weddings.  My own wedding only had 35 guests and thank goodness since it rained and we were all crammed under the covered deck for the evening!  Our wedding was truly our closest friends and family.  So I love it when I get a chance to shoot these smaller affairs.  Especially when they come with laid back brides who opt to do a first look!  Heather and Steve picked a beautiful location at The National Museum of the Marine Corp, they used the Semper Fidelis Chapel for their small ceremony and the overlook of the museum for their reception.  I think there is really no better location in the area for small weddings.  The chapel is stunning with floor to ceiling windows etched with words like Faith and Integrity just to name a few.  Words I think translate perfectly to marriage.

Heather and Steve decided to do a first look and we included Steve’s daughter in the event, I loved seeing her peek back to get a look at Heather first!  By doing a first look we were able to knock out all the portraits before the ceremony with plenty of time to spare for Heather and Steve to relax with their friends and family before the event.  The chapel grounds are a beautiful backdrop for portraits.  Being a December bride Heather was smart and found a gorgeous fur trimmed white cape to keep her warm!  I love little details like that!

By being married so close to Christmas the museum was still decorated and Heather and Steve embraced that for their reception decor.  The also gave a nod to their military status by sticking with a red, white and blue color scheme!  I thought their table decor was beautiful!  Plus by being on the overlook you have the awesome backdrop of vintage planes in their photos!

Heather and Steve I wish you much happiness in your new life as husband and wife!  I was very honored to be there to document it for you!
