Bridal Show Season | Stafford Virginia Wedding Photographer

Whoever said that January-March was the slow season for a wedding photographer was wrong!!!  I was worried that I’d be sitting around my office twiddling my thumbs while I count down the days for my husband to come home but I’ve barely had time to do that.  Instead it has been a whirlwind of meetings,…

How do I steal some of these pics to post an album for our Anthomanic FB? These would be cool in their own album!

Awesome booth Melissa! Great job! Now I see why you wanted that non-tapering ladder! ;)

  • melissaFebruary 22, 2011 - 12:23 pm

Thank Laura! Yep, it does taper slightly but it is close enough :)

Amanda I’ll put a folder up on Facebook with the pics and you can grab them from there :)

Pretty Packaging

I love pretty packaging! When I deliver a clients photos I want them to ooh and ahh over the bag, the boxes and then the products!   Tiffany is known for their Tiffany blue boxes with the white bow, every girl knows this!   We will pretty much love whatever is in the box because it is…

Blogging Goal | Virginia Photographer

You may have noticed that there have been a lot of blog posts going on here.  Well I’m trying to knock out goal #1 on my 101 in 1001 list which is to blog everyday for a month.  This goal is hard and I knew it would be but I’m committed to completing it!  I…

Blogging regularly is so hard!!! Good job on working towards a goal for Feb :) Young House love also blows me away! I mean it is their full time job and all but seriously, they have to do all the projects in order to blog it. Makes me tired just thinking about it :)

I know it is crazy how good they are keeping on schedule. It takes me forever to write a blog post, darn facebook and google reader distractions ;)

Vintage Cameras | Stafford Virginia Wedding Photographer

If you follow me on Facebook you might have noticed that I like to go to antique stores and find vintage cameras.  I love old cameras, they are just cool!  I take them home and display them but I’m always looking for one I can use.  I was checking out some local antique store in…

OH COOOL! I have lots of old film and even tried to shoot some things with my 35mm film. I can’t find a single working film camera in my house anymore. They are only 10-20 years old, man they don’t make them like they use to. Hope yours holds up well and we get to see some interesting shots!

  • melissaFebruary 17, 2011 - 12:37 am

I love taking film photos but I’m awful about getting them developed!! New goal – get all my film developed and see what is on those ol rolls :)

For Photographers: Let’s Get Legal!

So this blog post is directed more to photographers, but I think it can be helpful for brides when choosing a photographer to ensure they are a legitimate business that will be around long after your wedding!  I get a lot of emails from new photographers that ask about setting up their business.  I applaud…

    Hi Melissa,
This is a great topic. You covered much. If you don’t mind, I’d like to post this on my photography group’s discussion page.

    Well done

  • melissaFebruary 1, 2011 - 9:47 am

    Sure Pam go ahead! Thanks!

  • HeatherFebruary 1, 2011 - 2:44 pm

Great post Melissa!!! There are so many things to check off with your own business:)

Well done with lots of good info! Being a good photographer does not make you a good business person. You must work hard on both (from personal experience). You should have written this in 1976 so I wouldn’t have made all the mistakes at least once. (:-0)
